Scrapbooking practice is a significant means of autobiographical self-representation and medium of storytelling. However, contemporary scrapbooking has become an aesthetically focused craft, with the resulting layout merely an artwork that fails to portray the narrator’s personal thoughts and experiences. Although photographs play a significant role within storytelling practices, consideration of their limitations when unaccompanied by journaling and memory’s vulnerable nature is crucial. ‘Treasured Moments’ reconceives scrapbooking as visual narrative, demonstrating the necessity of text and image interplay in the documentation of life narrative and the importance of including embellishments that add meaning to the captured ephemeral moments in time.
