The idea for this project arose out of a perceived gap in visual representations of climate change. A pattern of established visual conventions of telling the climate change story has developed over time, resulting in reproductions of visual clichés and familiar narratives. Now that we have entered a stage in which we need to move beyond raising awareness to taking action, designers must find a different way of motivating people about this issue. Emotion plays a critical role in how people understand the world, and if design can utilise emotion as well as science, it may be possible to connect with people in a new way.
