After engaging in my photographic practice, I sought psychological and photographic themes to integrate into my research. The photographic series presented here of clouds, eroded rocks and water resonated as metaphorical depictions of my inner and emotional states at the time. One of the most effective research findings to facilitate this psychological dimension in photography was the image-making idea of the equivalent. The idea of an equivalent occurs when the photographer projects what is inside, instead of responding to what is outside, by removing the literal interpretation of the object, to metaphorically explore one’s self. Through this research I have found that personal history and cultural criteria shapes the way that we perceive the world. My photographs portray the journey that I underwent to deal with a problem at the time and coming to peace with it.
